The USS KEARSARGE took its maiden voyage on March 22, 1995, serving as the primary platform for the rescue of Air Force Captain Scott O’Grady after he was shot down over Bosnia. Since then, it has been deployed six more times, traveling in all regions of the world, assisting in support of September 11, Operation ENDURING FREEDOM, and Operation IRAQI FREEDOM.
